He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Shelia Phenicie; daughters, Jennifer Clemmons (Scott), Janna Watson (Mike), Christy Thompson (Will) and Sally Phenicie; grandchildren, Tyler, Blaire, Aleah, Grayson, Dylan, McKenzie and Cale; aunt and uncle who raised him, Red and Mary Shimp, now deceased; brother, Steve Shimp (Doris); mother-in-law, Shirley Sergent; sisters-in-law, Stephanie Daniel (Bruce) and Shari Whitten (Travis); and his dog, Raven.Jeff was a devoted and beloved husband, father, PaPaw and friend who never met a stranger. He was an avid bowler, a sports enthusiast (“Go Hawks!”), coach and mentor.He was the publisher and co-owner of The Ad Pak and Encore Magazine for over 20 years. He loved his job, his customers, his employees and partners.The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 30, at Andrews Valley Chapel, 4108 South College Road, Wilmington. A funeral service will begin at 2 p.m. immediately following visitation at the chapel. The Rev. She was born Aug. 24, 1945, in Asheboro, N.C. Judy was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.She was very active with Christmas donations for needy children through the Salvation Army. She made more than 100 gift bags each Christmas for many years.She is survived by her husband, John E. Nelms, Sr.; three children, John, Steve and Kathy; grandchildren, Alexis, Brittany, Nola and John; and great-granddaughter, Piper.The family will receive visitors from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 1, at Andrews Valley Chapel, 1408 South College Road, Wilmington.
